Life has been crazy with school, work, family, etc. (or at least those are my excuses for the lack of posts lately). Craig is in his last semester and I am in my second to last semester. It was exciting to finally see the light at the end of tunnel. It has been a long road of working and going to school full time for the both of us, but it is starting to pay off. I am so proud of Craig and his hard work. He leaves at 7:00 in the morning and sometimes doesn't come home until after 10:00 pm. He spends much of the weekends studying and does little complaining. I am so grateful to be married to such a hard worker, he takes such good care of me and I am so lucky to spend forever with him. I am also grateful that I have been able to go to school and get my degree. An education has always been very important to me, I know it would make my grandma proud that I am getting my degree. We're almost there...

I have been so dang busy lately, it seems that things had to give (such as my blog). With every second of free time that I do have, I spend it working on restoring and transferring family home videos. It is quite the project, but will be so great to have (when they are finally are done). So I thought I would catch up on my blog while I had a minute, because the semester just started and I am taking far too many credits this semester... such is life.

New Years In Utah

For New Years we decided to head up to Utah to spend the holiday with Craig's family. We had a good time and it was nice to be in the snow. We really enjoyed being with our family and bring in the new year together.

While we were in Utah, Craig and I went and found the house my grandma grew up in, it was on the cutest street! It was sooo fun to see her house.

When Craig gets something in his mind, he doesn't stop until he gets it. That is why we did this little yanky swap this weekend. He got someone to buy his car and then turned around and bought his new car for the same price he sold his old car in a matter of 30 minutes. Thanks to Craig's List. Don't ask why we had to get a new car-Craig just wanted out with the old and in with the new...whatever.

We just got back from a week in San Clamente with my family. All family vacations with the Halversons are a little bit out of control and unpredictable, but we had a good time.

We spent most of the time just laying out on the beach and surfing

So my mom thought it would be funny to rent a "raper van" to cruise around Orange Cali. in. The problem was it was funny for about two seconds, but she didn't care because she never had to ride in the back and fly around and hit the wall everytime my dad took a turn.

It wouldn't be a Halverson vacation without a good fight before the trip was over. That is exactly what happened when we tried to take family pictures, hence Blake MIA in the pictures.

Craig and his "new" body. Ever since the begining of June, Damon has inspired Craig to get back into shape. So for the last two months, Craig has been all organic and working out 5 days a week, he looks great!

Welcome Home Elder Ben!

Welcome home Ben! After two years of serving a mission in Brazil, Thursday morning we welcomed Ben home! It was an emotional and happy reunion with him. We just can't get enough of him, we all follow him around the house every where he goes. I have even caught a few of the little kids sitting outside the bathroom waiting for him to finish showering so they could hang with him. It is so great to have home and we are enjoying hearing all of his amazing experiencing and so proud of him for serving such a wonderful mission. When he left the airport to come home, there were 60 brazilians at the airport waiting to see him off. All in white shirts and ties and with tears in their eyes. We are so grateful for his sacrifice and to have him safely!

Cruise

Craig and I have been planning a cruise since December, but our schedules have been so crazy, it was hard to find time when to go. We ended up finding a really good deal on a 4 night cruise, and booked it. We had so much fun! We flew to Miami and from there the cruise took us to Nassau, Bahamas, Cococay, Bahamas, and Key West. It was so much fun, it was just nice to get a way!

We went to the Atlantis while we were in Nassau and looked around the amazing resort

We rented a scooter in Nassau and cruised around the island, it was awesome!

I have always wanted to go parasailing, so we went in the bahamas

For our two year anniversary, Craig surprised me and took me to a nice resort for the weekend, it was so nice to get away from everything and be with Craig.

At the resort, it was so nice, the president stayed here.

I feel like I always have to have little project going, don't ask why. So this is my project that I have had going on since we got married. I have been trying to make digital scrapbooks of all of our pictures. I have completed our wedding books and the first 2 years of our marriage and dating. Now I am working on all of my pictures growing up. Once I am done with that, it is on to all of Craig's pictures. It is a TON of time, but I am sure I will be glad to have them. Here are just a few that I have done:

Macy's terrible hair cut!

So my mom thought Macy had too much "friz" on top of her head, so she decided to take a buzzer to her head and "even it out". Needless to say about 30 seconds later, fur is everywhere and Macy looks like a rat with uneven hair. We had no choice but to shave her (thanks mom), my mom on wanted to do but, but I was not having it, I insisted that she paid for aprofessional do it. So, the next day she was hairless :(

Mother's Day Weekend

So we had a fun weekend, On friday me, Loni (my mother-in-law) and my mom went out to the outlets in Anthem. It was so fun, we decided to make it an annual for mother's day weekend. They had Banana Republic and J Crew outlet, we scored. Then that night Craig and I went out to a nice dinner at Roys with Loni and Theril (Craig's parents), it was so much fun! Then, on Saturday Craig took Macy (our puppy) and I up to Payson. It was a nice little day trip, except our poor dog gets car sick and threw up the entire way there and back. When we got back, we went swimming with Craig's parents. For Mother's Day we spent time with both mom's and got to talk to Ben (who has been in Brazil serving a mission). It was so good to talk to him, except he has developed this weird high pitch cackle, it was really weird. This was the last time we get to talk to him before he comes home. He comes home July 15th and we are so dang excited! We had a great weekend!

Well, it has been a year. I can't believe grandma has been gone a year. It is weird to think about. It seems like yesterday that everything happened, I remember that horrible day so well. I was at work waiting to go to lunch, this day for some reason I was especially excited to see grandma and grandpa (I went over to their house every day for lunch). Each day, she would call me around noon and leave me a message, "Oh Linds, it's just grandma, give me a call when your on your way over so I can put the toast in to stay warm, love you dear, buhbye." When I would get to her house she would had have this wonderful meal prepared and a lemon sitting on the counter cut next to a glass. She knew how I loved lemons in my water. I had emailed my grandma from work that morning telling her I think for spring break we should go to Hawaii. Once it was time for me to go to lunch I drove over to their house (which is about 5 minutes away from were I work), I even brought her these pictures I had printed for her. Once I arrived at her house I saw my mom's car, my dad's car, and uncle Gil's car. I thought, oh Grandma will be so happy to have them all over for lunch today! So I parked in the driveway and got out of my car, I was almost to the door before I was greeted by my dad. His face was red and he didn't say anything, he just walked towards me with his arms open. I had no idea what was going on, all I could say was no dad, stop, stop, what are you doing. He came and hugged me as I started backing away from him and crying. He hugged me and said, "Lindsay, I am so sorry but grandma passed away in her sleep last night." I fell to the ground crying and yelling at him, "no dad, no, no, I saw her yesterday, she was fine, no, she was suppose to be here for when Ben got home, and she was suppose to be here for when I had my baby!" All I could think about was, Ok, now how do I get her back. Once, I gathered myself I walked into her house where I found grandpa there sobbing. I then learned that in the middle of the night grandma got up with heart burn, she took some medicine and grandpa rubbed her back and she went back to sleep. The next morning she didn't wake up. I saw my grandma every day, I talked to her on the phone every night, She was my best friend, I loved her so much! My grandma was the most happiest healthiest person, it was such a shock when this happened. My grandma could make anyone's day, she had a way of making everyone feel loved and special. She was such an amazing example! After we took care of some stuff at her house, I went home with my dad to tell all of the kids what happened. My dad gathered everyone around and told him what happened, Each kid sobbed and sobbed. My heart especially ached for the little kids who didn't understand what happened to their grandma. We then had to call my brother who is serving a mission in Brazil and break the news to him. All he could say was, "What are we going to do, what are we going to do?!" It was especially hard on him. We all gathered together as a family and mourned. Craig was at work and couldn't home right away, once he got home he just hugged all of us and cried with us. It's been a year and it still hurts, it's now tollerable, but the pain still exists. I miss the sunday dinners. Every Sunday since before I was born we would go to her house for sunday dinner. Even though my heart aches for her and I miss her everyday, I feel so grateful that she passed away the way she did. I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to have spent every day for the last 7 months of her life at her house for lunch. She was an amazing person and won't soon be forgotten. I miss you grandma.

Thanks to my sweet husband, I had the best Valentines Day! It started out like this: I LOVE dogs!!! And, I have been wanting a dog for forever, so on Valentines Day, Craig took me to look for and buy a puppy, but we didn't find the one we wanted. Then, we drove up South Mountain And talked and over looked the whole city, it was so fun! Finally, Craig surprised me and took me to nice a nice resteraunt called Mastros, it was soooo good. So, I had a great Valentines! I have the best husband ever!

New York

We finally made it to New York! Although we spent less than 24 hours there, we still had a good time. So, we flew in and got there friday night around 8 p.m. Then spent the night cruising around Times Square.

Then in the morning, we got up and went for a walk around Central Park, it was so pretty, there was even snow on the ground. Then we hit up Canal Street (which was the main reason for going). For those of you who have not been to Canal Street, it is QUITE the experience! Canal Street is where you go to find all of the knock off designer purses and jewelry. However, to get the good stuff (like Coach and Luie purses) you get taken behind trap doors and underneath stair cases to a little 5x5 room filled with hand bags. This trip, we were actually taken and thrown into these vans in alley ways. So you get in this van, and the doors lock and black blankets line the windows and they flip on a light and the car is filled with a rack of hand bags, it is pretty crazy. We had a good time bargaining on Canal Street, Craig especially (Craig dropped more money than I did!).

When we were back in New York last weekend, we stopped by to see the World Trade Center (or where they were). Every time we go back to New York, we try to stop and see the progress on it. They are working on building a memorial there with a huge water display and one large tower called "Freedom". But, they are far from close to being done. The mood there is interesting though. All throughout the streets of New York is pure chaos, but when you go down to were the World Trade Center was, it is much more quiet and less chaotic, you can feel a great amount of respect and admiration in the air. It is pretty cool.

These are some pictures I took two weeks after 9/11. We had happened to have a trip planned to New York before 9/11 even happened, so we were lucky enough to go down to the site and see first hand what was going on. I will never forget what I saw when I went down there. There was debri from the towers EVERYWHERE (I brought some home and still have it in a little baggy). There were family members and friends of people who in the towers that were just crying and screaming. The rescue workers were still looking for people while we were there. And, I will never forget the smell, it smelt like burnt skin. It was pretty overwhelming to experience all of that.

All and all it was a good trip to New York, however I think we decided that it is just too far away to do a 24 hour trip like that back to New York, it takes alot out of you! Next time we go it will have to be longer then 24 hours!

So Friday night, my 12 year old brother had to learn why my mom and dad tell him to wear a helmet while long boarding the hard way. He was showing off for some friends going down hill that was far to steep for a long board and took a bad spill. Needless to say, we all ended up in the hospital friday night with him. He came out with two casts (one on each arm) and a chunk missing out of his ear. Luckily we there was no severe head trauma, and we are good family friend's with an excellent plastic surgeon! Poor Guy!

My Little brother and sister were scheduled to go visit our cousins in Oregon, but because of the snow, they weren't going to be able to get their, so instead Craig and I took them on a last minute trip to San Francisco last Saturday on a 24 hour trip.

Every time we go to San Francisco, we have to hid Ghiradeli for hot fudge sundaes!

So, since Craig had a say in what went were in the house, I got a say in how the backyard was going to look. So, I drew out the backyard and Craig got to work on it. Unfortunatly, it is a lot more work then I thought and it turns out installing a sprinkler system and a fountain ourselves is not a weekend project. Luckily, Craig is good at doing this stuff and after begging him all week to get started, he began our months long project this weekend!
